Landscape Artist - European Fine Art

Robert Schaar was born in Pasadena and raised in Arcadia where his father owned and raced thoroughbreds. He received his training in the early 1950’s at the Art Center School of Design where he was a fine arts major.

Upon conclusion of his Korean War tour of duty in the U.S. Navy where he served as staff artist at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, he completed his art apprenticeship in Europe and in Los Angeles, California. He immediately began an art career and has been working in oils and acrylics.

Robert Schaar has gained an international reputation as one of the most exciting and versatile artists of our time, and he is not looking to slow down anytime soon.

He describes his passion for art as “instinctive” and his pursuit of art as “selfish” but good-natured. He aims to please himself while also hoping that other people will receive the same pleasure he does. For his art Schaar believes the less complex the better so as to promote the most understanding and enjoyment. He also identifies himself as a fan of spontaneity and adventure!
