Giclee

Giclees (ghee-clay) are a type of fine art reproduction printed from a digital file on an array of surfaces such as canvas or arches museum paper. The image is scanned into a computer where the colors are seperated and a digital file of the image is created. The image is then printed by a sophisticated Iris printer onto canvas or paper using museum quality inks. The results are almost exact replications of the original art with perfect interpretation of color, depth, saturation, and detail.

Hand-enhanced means the artist has done some original painting on the giclee to highlight certain aspects of the image and to create texture which gives the appearance of an original painting. Schaar does a considerable amount of hand-enhancing on his canvas giclees. He signs his name to the front and numbers them on the back of the canvas. All of Schaar's giclees are Limited Editions.
